Virgin Australia: Six days to book and earn Double Status Credits
Launched today (Nov 18, 2019), you have 6 days until Sunday 24 November to book flights and receive double status credits with Virgin Australia.
You obviously need to be a member of the Velocity frequent flyer scheme, and Register online to take advantage of this offer.
Content of this Post:
Any Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight in any fare class for travel between 18 November 2019 and 13 October 2020 (inclusive) that would normally earn Status Credits, will now earn you double.
They have to be new bookings, changes to existing bookings made the promotion are not eligible, and neither are any reward bookings.
You should note, that you can’t combine this with any other offer, upgrades aren’t eligible, and you may need to wait up to 4 weeks to see the additional points in your account.
Just as a reminder, you need
- Silver: 250 Status credits
- Gold: 500 Status credits
- Platinum: 1,000 Status Credits
These depend on distance, fare paid, class of service, and whether you are travelling on domestic or international, and whether you are travelling on Virgin Australia or a partner airline. You will find a table here.
If you are after Velocity frequent flyer status, then now is the time to book.
Personally, I’m not sure about this. The main reason for status for me is lounge access, and I find Virgin Australia lounges to be incredibly overcrowded. Even if I turned over all my intended flying to Virgin and Partners, I could not gain Gold (where ongoing lounge access is granted) easily.
On the points redemption front, I don’t find much availability on Virgin Australia in premium cabins – especially on their highly desirable Australia – USA flights.
