FIJI AIRWAYS: Launches flights to Dallas from December 2024
Dallas Fort Worth will be the next North American destination for Fiji Airways starting on Tuesday 10 December 2024. DFW will join Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver currently serviced by the Pacific airline.
This roughly 13-hour service will operate three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) using an Airbus A350-800 featuring 33 Business Class fully reclining lie-flat seats, all with direct aisle access.

USA from Australia via Fiji
This could be an attractive one-stop option for Australians travelling out of Sydney and wanting to head to Dallas, one of the hubs for OneWorld member American Airlines. Remember as of 2025, Fiji Airways will move from a ‘Connect’ member of the alliance to a full member.
Business Class airfares are quite competitive. The cheapest I could find in December was a BIZ Value fare for AU$8,266 return. This compares favourably with other one-stop deals mostly priced at around the AU$11,000+ mark.
The applicable flights for this Sydney to Nadi and onward to Dallas Fort Worth are:
- FJ190 14:00 from Sydney (SYD) arriving in Nadi (NAN) at 18:45 (3h 45m)
- FJ890 21:15 from Nadi arriving in Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) at 15:20 same day (12h 5m)
Return flights operate on
- FJ891 21:55 from Dallas Fort Worth arriving Nadi at 05:20 +2 days (13h 25m)
- FJ911 09:00 from Nadi arriving in Sydney at 12:30 (4h 35m)
“Introducing a direct service between Fiji and Dallas is a really exciting milestone for Fiji Airways, as we continue to increase Fiji’s connectivity with the United States and beyond offering our guests more travel options.”
Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director
More alignment with OneWorld and American Airlines
Fiji Airlines will become a full member of OneWorld in 2025. It has also adopted the American Airlines AAdvantage loyalty program, which will also commence in 2025.

This new route will be number 24 for Fiji Airlines’ direct destination. They may not fly daily to these destinations but they sure get around!
Acknowledging that these flights are still subject to US government approval, they provide a pretty exciting opportunity for Australian travellers. You could take a break in Fiji to relax either on your way or your return from Fiji.
Depending on your dates, pricing can be pretty competitive too, so worth checking on before you book your next USA trip.
As all Fijian hospitality workers will tell you ‘Bulla! Welcome home!’
