Changi First Class Lounge reopens

And now that First Class passengers are returning to Singapore, the First Lounge at Changi Airport, which originally opened in December 2019 is re-opening. It only got three months of operation before the pandemic closed it until now. With the re-opening, Qantas has its full complement of Changi lounges open, including its Business Lounge

The Qantas First Lounge has a capacity of 240 guests, with Neil Perry prescribed fine dining with a menu based on Singapore’s eclectic dining scene including dishes like Crayfish Laksa with rice noodles, and Barramundi with brown butter sambal and Shrimp Chicken Wings.

Flight frequency

Qantas plans to operate a single daily return A380 flight from Sydney to Singapore and on to London plus 20 x A330 flights/week between Singapore and Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

2PAXfly Takeout

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.

The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.

It’s a big YES! from me. Love heading to London with a Singapore transit. Love Changi Airport, and loved the old lounge, so I see no reason not to love the new one. It’s been about 6 years since I did a Qantas A380 First Class trip, and absolutely loved the hard and soft product, although, not so much the food. I would love to travel on the refurbished A380, especially in First Class. Oh, if only I could find a Qantas classic reward fare to redeem!
