BestJet in Administration – customers not happy

Not good news. This flight booker based in Queensland has entered administration.

Queensland-based Bestjet and its subsidiaries, Wynyard Travel Pty Ltd and Brooklyn Travel Pty Ltd, went into voluntary administration on 18 December.

The first meeting of creditors was held yesterday. You can read the statement from the first creditors meeting here.

It appears that at least some payments made by customers have not been passed on to airlines, which of course places peoples airline bookings in danger.

So what should you do?

  • If you paid by credit card – contact your credit card issuer, and see if you can halt payment
  • Try contacting the Administrator on +61 7 3023 1300 However, I doubt they will tell you more than is in the press statement
  • Contact the airline that you booked, and check whether you have a valid booking

A Facebook group set up for furious customers to share information has swollen to more than 700 people, and its founder Kate Ryan has flown to Brisbane for a creditors’ meeting on Wednesday.

BestJet customers are getting together in a facebook group. It has collected over a 1,000 members in the last few days.
