SQUEEL!!!! Double Status Credits with Qantas from 1 to 5 February for travel 12 Feb 2018 to 20 Jan 2020!

Content of this Post:
I need to go for GOLD
This is what I have been waiting for! With my current trips (Business to Europe on Qatar) and my regular interstate trips these double status credits will get me to the magical 700 points to reclaim Gold Status on Qantas before my Qantas Club ‘Birthday’ at the end of July 2018.
The question is – do I try and fit in a quick Business Class trip to Europe before then on Qantas, and add that to my roughly 700 gold points to make the magical 1400 for Platinum?
I’d do it in a minute. My bank account and credit cards are not soooo certain.
Get in Quick to catch the cheap seats
It looks like plenty of other people have had a similar idea. I was looking at some specials for around AU$6000 for Business Class between Sydney and London for dates in July. When I looked a few hours ago – all gone! The cheapest now is AU$9,000! That’s way past my budget.
The Deal
The Qantas offer means that you have to Register and then book in the next 5 days between 1 to 5 February 2018. Your travel must commence between 12 February 2018 and 20 February 2019. I thought it might be a targetted offer, but it’s not – it seems across the board:
Is there a catch?
Well – apparently no. Basically, normal rules apply, and that ‘*’ around eligible flights translates as:
‘An eligible flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Domestic or International Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number on your ticket where Status Credits are normally earned.’
How many points do you need, and what do you get?
Below is a chart from the Qantas website detailing how many points you need to snag each level of status.
