VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: Double Status Credits!
You have just nine days to take advantage of this Double Status Credits promotion before midnight on Thursday, 3 August, 2023.
You need to already be a member of the Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer program or sign up for it.
If you are already a member, start by logging in, and then navigate to the My Offers page, and then look for the ‘Bonus Status Credits’ offer. You need to press that ‘Activate’ button before you start booking

I’m old school and would take advantage of this offer via my computer. If you are more modern than me – you will probably access it on your phone via the Velocity App. Head for ‘Offers’ and select the Bonus Status Credits tab.
You need to be booking a flight on Virgin Australia metal, not some other airline. But it can be domestic, across the ditch to New Zealand, or short-haul international like Bali or Japan. You can also book flights that depart up until 31 December 2023 – nearly six months away.
Fast-track your Velocity status.
If you are heading to Gold or Platinum, then this promotion is particularly valuable, as those status levels give you free access to the Virgin Australia lounges as well as other benefits.
Velocity status levels are low compared to Qantas. 250 status credits get you Silver, 500 Gold, and 1,000 for platinum, all earned in a 12-month period.
Just remember there are some exclusions, but they are to be expected:
- Current bookings – those you made before the offer don’t count
- Points redemption flights don’t qualify
- Flights travelling on partner airlines such as ANA, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and United don’t qualify either.
I will have to seriously consider this, as I am at the beginning of my qualification period and am currently Silver. Some judicious bookings, and I could head to Gold and get access to Virgin domestic lounges, among other benefits.
It looks like I have some planning to do.
