QANTAS: Surprise ‘twice as rewarding’ Double Status Credits or Points promotion on day stunning profit announced

On the same day that Qantas reports a massive 15% increase in its profit, it decides to ‘give back’ to loyal customers by launching an unexpected ‘twice as rewarding’ Double Status Credits and Points promotion.

You need to register via the mobile app and book before Wednesday, 3 September 2025. You need to nominate whether you want double status credits or points, and you will receive an email confirming your registration and choice of Status Credits or Points.

Twice as Rewarding details

Here’s the details of the deal:

• Register via the Qantas App (make sure it’s the latest version)
• Booking window: now through to Wednesday 3 September 2025
• Only Qantas flights count — excludes codeshare and partner airline flights
• Travel window: 4 September 2025 to 22 August 2026.
• Choose Double Status Credits or double Points
• Double Points on Qantas Hotels and Holidays booked during that same timeframe—earning 6 points per AU$1 spent.

Which ‘twice as rewarding’ perk makes sense for you?

Double Status Credits is a popular pick for frequent travellers chasing higher tiers—think lounge access, priority boarding, and more baggage allowance. In fact, past offers show about two-thirds of members went for Status Credits. It’s certainly my choice during these promotions.

But if your goal is to rack up Points—for a trip or upgrade—then double Points might be the smarter move. Ultimately, your choice depends on what perks you’re chasing.

If you are looking to double-earn status or points and get the best deals, forget it. Qantas ain’t stupid. Virtually all the good price deals especially in Business class have disappeared prior to this promo.

1. Download/update your Qantas App and look for the promotional banner
2. Pick your reward—double Points or Status Credits
3. Book as many eligible Qantas‑operated flights as you like for travel within the promo window
4. Enter your Frequent Flyer number at booking!
5. Claim double Points on Qantas Hotels and Holidays —no extra signup needed

Status Gift

Also, if you have status Silver and above with Qantas, you will also have received an email giving you gratis a Status Credit gift. The gift depends on your status:

I think this is a canny move by Qantas. Instead of Qantas customers shouting ‘that’s our money!’ in reaction to the 15% increase in profit announced today, they will be racing to the App to book their next trip. That’s even evident in my reaction, given I am writing a post about the promotion before I write one about the profits!

Let’s not forget that the announced 15% profit came out of our pockets.

Alternatively, we will all be checking our Status Credits on the app to see if our Status Gift has posted yet.
