QANTAS: Finally restarts Adelaide international flights — seasonal in summer to Auckland

QANTAS: Finally restarts Adelaide international flights — seasonal in summer to Auckland

You can book from today, but you will have to wait until October 2025 to fly between Adelaide and Auckland, New Zealand. This means that finally, Qantas has returned to international flying out of Adelaide.

Auckland an odd choice?

Flying to New Zealand from Adelaide only barely qualifies as flying non-stop internationally, but on the other hand it does open up one-stop flights from Adelaide to New York via Auckland (QF3). Currently, you can only do that via an East coast capital city.

Here is the flight schedule for the four-times-a-week Adelaide to Auckland flights starting on 31 October and running through to 3 May 2026:

  • QF175 Departs Adelaide 08:30, arrives Auckland 15:15 (Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun)
  • QF176 Departs Auckland 16:15, arrives Adelaide 18:35

These roughly four and a quarter hour flights have return sale fares of around $700 in Economy and $2,000 for business. Expect to pay more if you are travelling around Christmas or between March and May.

The flights will be on Boeing 737-800 Aircraft, same as if you were catching them from the East Coast.

Qantas has also opened a new domestic Business Lounge at Adelaide Airport, which you can use pre-security and immigration if you are travelling to Auckland.

The new lounge has capacity for 190 customers in over 1,000 square meters of floor space.

Like other capital city lounges, it has a ‘signature’ dining option/cooking station, notionally inspired by the Adelaide Central Markets. That option currently includes the pie floater, a lamb dish, and a vegetarian option.

The lounge also features a blown glass light installation specially commissioned from the Jam Factory. I’ll let you in on a secret—the Jam Factory, a craft studio in Adelaide, is my secret source of artist-made original gifts.

More practically, around 80% of the seats have access to power, including USA-A and C outlets including wireless charging.

2PAXfly Takeout

I will have to wait to sample this new lounge. I don’t have another Adelaide trip scheduled until the second half of this year. However, one of my cousins’ kids has just had a third child, so I might have to make a trip sooner!

Alternately, maybe I will book a trip to Auckland via Adelaide during the next double status credits promotion.

The furnishings look very similar to the Club Lounge in Adelaide, but maybe with different finishes. That red rock bar is certainly eye-catching. I’m not so sure about the pizzeria-style terracotta wall behind the food serving area.
