DELTA AIR LINES: Sydney bound flight hit with extreme turbulence. Passengers hospitalised
Just breaking: Some people have sustained injuries on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Sydney. The flight experienced extreme turbulence during the flight this morning.
Emergency services attended Sydney Airport prior to the flight landing. Radio station 2GB reported that the plane was struck by intense turbulence. This resulted in flight attendants and some passenters to be tossed around the cabin. This has resulted in several crew and passengers being injured, although exact numbers have not been reported.
It is understood that at least three people were transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital by the NSW Ambulance service. Although injuries were apparently minor.
Delta flight 41 arrived in Sydney at 06.48 on Friday. It departed LAX on Wednesday at 22:11.
NSW Ambulance was alerted about 06.45, minutes before the plane landed.
A total of five people sustained minor injuries as a result of the extreme turbulence, including back and head pain.

Extreme turbulence causing injury is more common than most people think. This should be a reminder to us all to have our seatbelts on at all times when seated in the cabin. Having your seatbelt secure can prevent or curtail the severity of injuries during severe turbulence. And that applies to wherever you are seated. Premium classes don’t shelter you from this kind of event.
