VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: targetted offer of double or triple Status Credits

Check your inbox, Velocity members. Virgin Australia has quietly slipped out a double or triple Status Credits promotion – but not everyone’s been invited to the party.

Double or Triple Treat
This isn’t a blanket offer for all Velocity frequent flyers. Instead, Virgin has taken a targeted approach, selecting an undisclosed group for the double or triple Status Credits deal.
Whatever offer you received, double or triple, it’s a fast-track path to locking in Velocity Silver, Gold, Platinum or even the brand-new Platinum Plus tier – and edging closer to that elusive lifetime Forever Gold.

How the Promo Works
If you received the offer, here is what to remember
- Booking window: now until 30 November 2025
- Eligible flights: any Virgin Australia-operated service with a VA flight number
- Included routes: domestic, short-haul international, and Virgin’s long-hauls to Doha – with a VA flight number like VA1/2 (Sydney–Doha), VA15/16 (Brisbane–Doha) and VA21/22 (Perth–Doha)
- Exclusions: partner codeshares (Singapore Airlines, United, Air Canada, ANA, etc.) won’t count
Essentially only flights on Virgin Australia metal, plus the VA branded flights on Qatar Airways metal (see above) count. That discount fare on Singapore Airlines does not.
Why It Matters
Velocity made elite status harder to reach earlier this year with its controversial switch to a spend-based rather than miles based model. Status Credits are now earned by dollars spent, not distance flown:
- Economy Lite: 1 Status Credit per $24 spent
- Economy Choice/Flex & Business: 1 Status Credit per $12 spent
Do the maths and the spend requirements are eye-watering:
- Silver: 250 Status Credits = at least AU$3,000 spend
- Gold: 500 Status Credits = at least AU$6,000 spend
- Platinum: 1,000 Status Credits = at least AU$12,000 spend
This bonus of double or triple Status Credits becomes a seriously tempting shortcut. It could cut your cost of achieving Platinum from AU$12,000 to AU$4,000. That is a serious saving if you want renew or leapfrog into a higher tier before year’s end.

2PAXfly Takeout
If you’re one of the lucky flyers tapped for the triple Status Credits offer via email, it’s a platinum chance to secure your Velocity status and perks faster than ever. Hello to lounge access, priority boarding and upgrades. You can also get a boost to those Forever Gold, and Platinum Plus tiers.
If you only scored the double deal, it’s still worth a look. In the new spend-based world of Velocity, promotions like this are the most efficient way to keep climbing (or hanging on to) the loyalty ladder.
Obviously, there has been some mistake, as I didn’t get either the double or the triple offer!
