QANTAS: Double Status Credits promotion now counts for Lifetime Status

In its latest Double Status Credits and Points promotion, named ‘twice as rewarding’, Qantas made a small but significant change in the terms and conditions. Unlike in other promotions, it disqualified the additional status credits earned from being counted towards Lifetime Status.
In reversing this decision, Qantas has now affirmed that those Double Status Credits will be counted towards Lifetime Silver, Gold and Platinum. That brings this ‘Twice as rewarding’ promotion back into line with previous terms and conditions, which have allowed the additional status credits earned to be counted towards lifetime status.

Frequent Flyer outcry
Looks like Qantas’ social media team has been paying attention to the discussion boards, or maybe Qantas loyalty has just decided it was being too mean in discounting these Status Credits from counting towards Lifetime status. Certainly, frequent flyers have been complaining about the change in various discussion forums.

However, the tale doesn’t quite end there. You probably have received an email gifting you anywhere between 40 and 300 free Status Credits, depending on your current status from Silver through to Platinum One. Those gifted Status Credits still don’t count towards your Lifetime Status. Well, that is up till the time of writing. Let’s hope that Qantas rethinks that decision as well.

2PAXfly Takeout
Qantas has damaged its reputation by not initially allowing gifted and Status Credits earned as part of its ‘Twice as rewarding’ promotion to count towards Lifetime Status. Although it has now reversed its decision regarding the Double Status Credits promotion, it has still done immense harm to the airline’s reputation.
Yet again, Qantas is seen as mean-spirited, just as it was when it sold flights that were already cancelled, sacked ground staff illegally, or made it difficult to use or refund flight credits.
The brand damage goes on.
