QANTAS: Another A380 flies to Singapore in June to August 2025

Got a spare A380? Qantas does, and it’s deploying it on its Sydney to Singapore route temporarily between 16 June and 10 August, 2025.
That means more premium seats, some of which will be available as Classic Rewards. You can book Classic Rewards with the fewest Qantas Points of any redeemable fare.

Background
Recently, the QF81/82 flight between Sydney and Singapore has been using a wet-leased Finnair A330 since late 2023. These are smaller aircraft than the A380. The A380 is expected to fly five or six times a week on the route.
The reason is that Qantas has a short-term excess of A380s. It’s the 9th A380, which will be deployed on the Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth route starting on 11 August, has returned to flying earlier than expected. Instead of letting it sit idle, Qantas is giving it a bit of exercise on the Singapore Route.

Singapore, more capacity — lower prices?
That’s good news, as it will increase capacity on the Singapore route, one of Qantas’ most popular. Passengers will benefit, particularly in the Business cabin and First Class, on these flights. The A380 equals a roughly 60% increase in capacity, including doubling the number of Business seats, and adding 60 Premium Economy seats each way on the route.
With increased capacity comes more competition, even if it is Qantas against itself. If we are lucky, we should see a reduction in the fare price on the route.
Since Classic Plus fares are tied to the price of tickets, they should also decrease.

Time to book your Singapore sling in July and early August! Remember, Singapore can be the gateway to all sorts of destinations, so even if you are not clear on where your final destination, it might be worth snagging one of these Classic or Classic Plus rewards seats on Qantas, and then head on to somewhere else in Asia or even Europe.
