Thai Airways turns 60 - but no international flights

Hello travellers,

Last week, was mainly all about Virgin Australia, still

Virgin Australia held its first creditors meeting, and it turned out that there are 20 potential suitors, up from the previous 10.

A few facts and factoids leaked from the meeting - I suppose that happens with 1200 creditors. Expect more jostling for position by various bidders over the next couple of weeks before proposals are due in mid May.

What happened last week?

You can see from the posts below that there was a deal of reporting out of the first creditors meeting of Virgin Australia.

Elsewhere, IAG, the owning entity for British Airways reported its first quarter results.

I have started a series on the Future of Travel (F.O.T.) where I get to do some speculating on what will happen post pandemic. I'm nailing my bull to the church door with this series. Each post will come with a prediction you can measure me by later.

Finally its a 'Happy Birthday' to Thai Airways, as they reach 60, and if you want some amusement, watch the 'let the airlines fail' video for an expletive, but amusing comic rave.

What's coming up?

These are strange times. Unfortunately, airline news is mainly about bailouts and airline failures. I might put together some of the economic arguments around this issue for a post.

I'm going to catch up on some hotel and flight reviews, so you can start dreaming about destinations, foreign abodes, and good airline service. Until then . . .

You can catch up on posts from last week below. Until next week . . .

Happy (fantasy)Travels,

Stephen
