My relationship will be as valid as yours

Welcome to new subscribers to the newsletter. Each week - early Monday morning (Australian Eastern Standard Summer Time)  we send you this newsletter of recent articles on 2PAXfly.

What a HUGE week in Australian history. It's the week when Australians said fairly loudly, that they respect relationships equally whether they are gay or not gay. Mind you we knew that, it's just that our politicians needed to spend AU$122 million on a postal survey to get off their butts and legislate for equal marriage. I could go on, but life is too short.

This week, I pulled together my thoughts on the new cabins for Emirates 777s, finished my thoughts on Singapore Airlines A380 premium economy cabins and shared a review on the Canberra Park Hyatt, and how frank you should be about feedback to hotels. I've forwarded that to Hyatt as feedback, so I will report any response I get.

This coming week, I'm hoping to catch up on some trip reports, give you my views on some hotel and airline products, and keep you up to date on any emerging travel news.

We always enjoy your comments, so give dive in and give us your thoughts on the website, or on Facebook.

Happy Travels,

Australia puts Frequent Traveller passports on a diet

By 2paxfly on Nov 19, 2017 01:53 pm

The (Australian) Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is going to stop offering ‘fat’ passports at the end of this month (November 2017). The official name for these is ‘Frequent Traveller Passports‘ and they were 66 pages instead of the regular 34 pages. This cost you more AU$382 rather than the standard AU$254. Orders for the […]

Australia says YES to marriage equality – legislation to come

By 2paxfly on Nov 15, 2017 11:38 am

OMG – well, I foresee weddings on Qantas planes. For non-Australians who haven’t caught up: The Australian Parliament – instead of making an actual decision decided to hold a voluntary, non-binding, postal plebiscite (we have compulsory voting here, so being voluntary is a ‘thing’) on marriage equality. The question was: ‘Should the law be changed to allow […]

Emirates – to bling, or not to bling? Where beige is nobler in the cabin, and faux metal suffers

By 2paxfly on Nov 15, 2017 10:17 am

It’s been a fortnight of cabin refurbishments. First, we had Singapore Airlines A380s, who did something radical – although I’m not sure it fully works (until I test it) – and now its the turn of Emirates and their new 777s. Now in the interests of full disclosure, I have never flown on an Emirates […]

Singapore Airlines ‘New’ Premium Economy on the A380

By 2paxfly on Nov 13, 2017 09:54 am

It’s Business Lite, right? I always want to believe that Premium Economy is a kind of Business lite – sort of half the service, and a seat like the old-fashioned business before flatbeds. Of course, this is just a fantasy. Premium Economy is almost like what Economy used to be before deregulation and the advent […]
