Wynyard Harbour, Auckland, New Zealand – May 2019

Where were you last week? I was in Auckland, New Zealand

Hello travellers.
I had a quick trip to Auckland last week to review Qantas A300 Business Class and the new SO/ Auckland hotel. I'll be posting some first impressions this week, with longer reviews to come.

What happened last week?

See below, but Air NZ threw people of planes for not paying attention, Asiana is getting rid of First Class, Jetstar is flying between Seol, Korea and the Gold Coast, and Qantas retired another bunch of 747 - placing 787's on the  Sydney to San Francisco route.

Tragedy

We also had another major tragedy with the crash of a Russian aircraft at Moscow Airport.

I got Qantas Platinum

Yes, I did it. Finally, I'm platinum. First time ever. I'll be giving my own personal guide to the advantages of this status soon.

Catch up on last weeks posts below. Until next week . . .

Happy Travels,

Asiana: ‘Business Suites’ – we used to call it First?

By 2paxfly on May 08, 2019 11:08 am

This seems to be a trend. Renaming First Class – often with suites – as ‘Business Suites’ like Malaysian Airlines did it in December 2018. Alternately, airlines are eliminating first class entirely like Korean Air will do from mid this year. Although not the first, the latest to adopt this trend is Korean based Asiana […]

Qantas announced today that from 4 December 2019, passengers on the Sydney to San Francisco route will be on a B787 Dreamliner instead of one of their ageing 747 Jumbos. Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, 747’s got to go! I recently travelled on one of the 747’s to Santiago, and boy are they showing their age. […]
