COVID-19: No Quarantine required if double jabbed

COVID-19: No Quarantine required if double jabbed

UPDATED

If you are a fully vaccinated Australian returning home to Australia, or a fully immunised international traveller, you will no longer need to go into quarantine in Sydney after 1 November 2021. New South Wales (NSW) is the first state to dispense with the quarantine requirement.

“Hotel quarantine and home quarantine are a thing of the past”

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet

You will however have to take a COVID-19 test before boarding and have received a negative result.

With trialling of 7 days at-home quarantine still in progress, this is a very bold move from Premier Periottet.

“For double vaccinated people around the world, Sydney, NSW, is open for business.

“We will work closely with the Commonwealth to ensure protections are in place so we keep people safe (as we) rejoin the world.”NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet

This is verging on the scary, and definitely a more gung-ho approach than previous premier Gladys-Beryl

Capacity limits on Arrivals to go

1 November will also herald the removal of any capacity limits on fully vaccinated passenger arrivals.

However – hotel quarantine will apply if you arrive and you are not fully vaxxed – and this will be capped at 210 people per week according to NSW Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres.

Australian Borders open?

Apparently, our esteemed premier did not consult with the Australian Prime Minister, Scotty from Marketing – so who knows if the actual Australian International borders are open or not! SCOVID is apparently irrelevant – so no change there.

Bet he and advisors are hunkered down saying not terribly charitable things about Dominic Periottet and Queen Elizabeth, our sovereign, for that matter.

Prime Minister’s statement

Well, our Prime Minister has emerged from the bunker and contradicted the NSW Premier by granting precedence to Australians for international travel, and not endorsing the re-emergence of international general tourism:

“We are not opening up to everyone coming back to Australia at the moment. I want to be clear about that.”

“In the first instance, it will be for Australian residents and their families. We will see how that goes and then we will be to [look at] other priorities set out as being skilled migration as well as students to Australia and then we will move on to the challenge of dealing with international visitors to Australia.”Prime Minister Scott Morrison, or SCOVID, as we have come to call him

Also, the federal national security committee after a lot of public pressure has changed the rules to classify the parents of Australians as ‘immediate family’, which puts them in a category for travel exemptions under the current border restrictions.

This is another timely reminder to wear your seatbelt when seated. Holding you close to your seat will protect you from the sort of injuries sustained on this flight, when unsecured passengers flew to the ceiling of the aircraft, and then came crashing down once the ‘drop’ ceased.

The hope will be that this is an anomaly – a ‘freak accident’ in casual parlance. If it is a systemic error either mechanical or electronic, then this is a larger concern for the airlines that fly Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft. Let’s hope it isn’t. If it is, it will pile on the woes to Boeing’s existing stack.

So it’s going to be true that you will be able to travel to Britain and Bali before you can head to Broome in Western Australia. Yah Boo Sucks to Western Australia from Stuart Ayres!

Not too sure how I feel about this. It has a certain ‘throwing caution to the winds’ feel to it with a triumph of the economy over humanity.

On the other hand, this will allow many Australians stranded overseas to return, and if the Federal Government follows suit, will allowing borders to open to departing Australians and international tourists, then those missing their relatives and friends overseas will be able to be reunited.

It far from sucks from being Western Australian. We’re utterly blessed to live in our COVID FREE State. A recent poll found that 82% of residents want the borders to COVID infected NSW and VIC to remain closed. Go ahead and fly to Bali, as Broome is heaving with WA tourists. We don’t need you!
